New Addition to the Twilight Series!

Oh my goodness, I just heard that Stephenie Meyer is releasing a new book in June!   "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, An Eclipse Novella."   It's a short story (around 200 pages), which compliments "Eclipse" and goes into the background of Bree, one of the newborn vampires of Eclipse.

They will be releasing the hardcover book on June 5, 2010!

But ALSO, Stephenie will be placing the book online for fans to read for free from June 7th - July 5th at www.breetanner.com.

Woohoo!  I can't wait!

....I'm SUCH a nerd!

7 Years...No Itching!

Jake and I got married 7 years ago today, on March 29, 2003!   I can't believe it's been 7 years!!!   Happy anniversary Jake!   We watched our wedding video last night, and though there are a few things I would've changed (my prom-do hair and dress), over all I still love everything about our wedding!  We got married at an old theater, which was perfect for us!

We had a big wedding, almost 500 people there!
Everyone had a blast and danced all night long!

Our cake was a flour-less chocolate cake served with raspberry sauce.
It. was. delicious.

We were very young (19!!!!!), but we knew what we wanted.
And 7 years later, we're still going strong!

Tonight we went to PF Changs for dinner to celebrate.  It was sooo yummy!
I also got a new outfit today to wear.

Check out my new shoes...I'm in love!

On the way to eat.
(No this is not a Ken Towery's add.)

Here are my gifts that Jake has given me so far:

He found this eiffel tower candle holder and made it into a vase!
He's so creative!

A really awesome leather bound journal.

And a new canvas, brushes, and paint!

Oh AND... I have 6 more days of gifts!
He says I'm getting 7 days of gifts..... since it's been 7 years!

I got him a new pair of shoes and a framed poster of the band whose song we danced to at our wedding (Slingshot 57).  I did get it signed by the band....but STILL, he out-did me as usual!!!   I feel like a slacker in the gift giving department!
Oh well, he has me...that's really all a man could ask for.

Haha....totally kidding!

Seven years!!!!  Wow.... I feel old!!

What are you licking off of YOUR lips?

Ever heard of a "rendering plant?"   I never had either until about 5 years ago when I finally turned myself into a label reader!   Now, I never put anything on my skin unless I know the ingredients and what they are!  Did you know it only takes 26 seconds for anything you put on your skin to go to every major organ in the body!?   Makes you think, doesn't it?   If you don't believe me, do this little test:   peel a clove of garlic and stick it between your toes.  Within a minute or so, you will taste that garlic in your mouth!

Here's an excerpt from a book called "Mad Cowboy" by Howard F. Lyman.  He speaks about animal products in skin care and cosmetics.   I about threw up the first time I heard this:

In his book he writes:

“I am a fourth generation dairy farmer and cattle rancher.  I grew up on a dairy farm in Montana, and I ran a feedlot operation there for twenty years.  I know first-hand how cattle are raised and how meat is produced in this country.

When a cow is slaughtered, about half of it by weight is not eaten by humans; this includes the intestines and their contents, the head the hooves, the horns, as well as bones and blood.  These are dumped into giant grinders at rendering plants, as well as the entire bodies of cows and other farm animals known to be diseased.

There is simply no such thing in America as an animal too ravaged by disease, too cancerous, or too putrid to be welcomed by the all-embracing arms of the renderer.

Another staple of the renderer’s diet, in addition to farm animals, is euthanized pets – the six or seven million dogs and cats that are killed in animal shelters every year.

Added to the blend are the euthanized catch of animal control agencies, and road-kill.

(Road kill is not collected daily, so in the summer, the better road kill crews can generally smell it before they can see it…) When this gruesome mix is ground and steam-cooked, the lighter, fatty material floating to the top gets refined for use in such products as cosmetics, lubricants, soaps, candles and waxes.”

…and that my friends, is the cold, hard truth about where the “animal by-products” come from that the cosmetic industry tries to pawn off onto the American public.

Pretty darn gross huh?   What are YOU licking off of your lips?!

Read your labels!
Look for things like: lanolin, tallow, gelatin, collagen, elastin...
these are all animal by-products!

Use products from a company that is vegan
and you won't have to worry!

Yuck....sorry all you meat eaters,
hope you weren't eating a burger while you were reading this.  : )

"Borrow a 2 Year Old." The next big thing!

I've decided to start a new business, "Borrow a 2 year old."
It's catchy, right?
You know all of those weeds that taunt you in your yard?
Are you sick of picking them, only to watch them grow back days later?
Have no fear.... "Borrow a 2 year old" is here!

I know what you're thinking, "Ashley, how did you come up with such a fabulous business idea?"  Well, today I kept my friend's little girl, and I watched in delight as she picked every weed...er um, I mean "flower" in my yard!

She diligently ran around, collecting them all!

She even neatly piled them on the porch for me.

I know, I know, "labor laws."
Psh.... I offered her a break, she didn't want it!
And I allowed her to sit down while she worked!

And here's the beauty of "Borrow a 2 year old," you don't have to pay the 2 year olds anything!  Why in the world would you hire a gardner when there are plenty of capable 2 year olds running around who are perfectly happy to do it?

Generally, all they ask in return is that they get to keep the weeds...er um, "flowers," to give to their mommies.

So, next time you need some weeds pulled, just
"Borrow a 2 year old!"

(No 2 year olds were injured/mistreated during the making of this blog post.)

Love this video from my company.

"Make believe until you can make it happen."

What are your dreams?

Dear Summer, I miss you.

I'm counting down the days until summer is here.   I miss 80 degree weather and sunglasses!   Please get here soon!

I want hot, sunny days by the pool.

(Okay... he can come too.)

I want to wear flip flops every day!

And drive with my windows down.

"I need the smell of summer, I need it's noises in my ear."

 sigh....

Here's a great summer drink:

Malibu Punch

1/2 ounce Amaretto
1 1/2 ounces Malibu Coconut Rum
1 1/2 ounces Absolut Raspberry
Pineapple Juice
Cranberry Juice

Pour alcohol over ice, fill the rest of the glass with equal parts of pineapple and cranberry juice.  Garnish with fruit and enjoy!

Here's a great summer song:

We're almost there!   Please hurry.
